It's Release Day!!!

Two books I am looking forward to getting this week are Death Magic by Eileen Wilks and Model Marine by Candace Havens!

Subject: Captain Will Hughes, US Marine Corps
Current Status: On assignment in NYC-suddenly recruited to shed the uniform!
Mission: Serve as model, muse and man-toy without running afoul of the General.
Obstacle: Hannah Harrington, fashion world It Girl.

Hannah narrowly escaped Fashion Week disaster by hijacking gorgeous Will for her runway show: after all, rock-hard abs are the ultimate accessory. His good deed nearly lands him in the brig, but he'll risk anything to get back into her bed....
Hannah can't figure out how this model Marine got under her skin-they're complete opposites! But sexy Will not only ignites her senses, he fuels her creativity: an irresistible combination, even if it can't last. Can two steamy weeks together satisfy their lust...or will they have to extend this mission?

Guest Blog by J.N. Duncan and Giveaway - October 29, 2011

This looks like a very interesting series...

For taking the time to read and comment here on the topic, one random commenter will receive a signed copy of The Vengeful Dead and coverflat for book three, The Lingering Dead, due out in April.

Revision Hell

I love writing. I love doing writing sprints 1k1h's (1,000 word goal written in 1 hour) sprinkled throughout my day. On average I write about 3500 words and 20+ pages a day.

Now it is time to revise what I wrote. Checked for double spacing after periods. Done. Highlighted those nasty prepositions that hate to dangle freely at the end of my sentences. Will fix them as I come to them. Yay go me, I'm gona whip this book into shape...

Not so much. It's two weeks later my 334 page book has become 359 pages and I am only on page 144. Thats not even halfway through revisions! What happened to my momentum? To my joy and excitement that I get to write?

Rules happened, its not play any more, now I have to follow writing rules. That and the fact that I somehow went from writing in first person to writing in 3rd passive voice. Don't know what that is? I didn't either but they make youtube videos for everything. seriously, everything. Last night hubs wanted to know how to butcher a pig (and no I didn't ask why, I know better) but you guessed it - there it was on youtube. But I digress - Basically I went from writing, "Wonder if those shoes are on sale, I'd rock in those boots" to writing "She wondered if that store was having a sale." Yeah, the second one bored me too.

So I am struggling to rewrite my pages as Nano looms. I have ideas to write people. I want to start my new shiny project. I want....

Crap! What I really want is to get published. And that means that I have to "work". So I hope to get to do Nano this year, but only when I finish fixin Bran's story. I left him with no mate, a burning house, and carrying a huge mutant dog in his talons. Poor dragon. He'd probably be much happier if I get him out of that, huh?
